Dosbarth Sycamore

Welcome to the class page for Dosbarth Sycamore. This is where you will find all the information you need about our class.

Dosbarth Sycamore is taught by Mrs Edwards and Miss Anderson. Mrs Edwards is the SENCO for the school and part of the Senior Management Team and fulfils this role on a Monday and Friday every week. On these days Miss Anderson teaches the class and is supported by Miss Evans and Aunty Sue.

This term our topic is “Going Green” and we will be finding out about environmental issues such as climate change, recycling and the effects of plastic in the sea to name but a few.

PE sessions are every Monday afternoon and Friday morning. For the time being all children are required to come to school in their PE kit. PE kit is usually black/navy shorts with a white t-shirt and trainers. As the weather changes and becomes colder, pupils may come to school on these days in black/navy joggers or leggings and a dark coloured, plain hoodie. (No football kits or tops please) Children will also need to bring a spare pair of shoes/trainers to change into in case they get wet or muddy. PE lessons will be outside as much as possible.

All children will bring home a reading book but there will be no reading diary sent home this year. We ask that you spend ten minutes reading with your child at least three times a week. Once they have read their book it can be returned to the class teacher and a new one will be issued.

Children who are on My Book Blog can also access this at home. They have all received their log in details and have a book to read and blog about.

All children have access to TT Rockstars at home and have been given their own log in details. The times tables are set by the class teacher weekly and there is a paper times table test every Friday morning. Children are encouraged to log into TT Rockstars regularly.

Spellings will be given out every Friday and children are encouraged to practice them daily using the “Look, cover, say, write” method. Spellings will be linked to specific phonic spelling patterns. There will be a spelling test every Friday morning.

There will be no written homework or homework books for the time being. Instead homework tasks will be set using Seasaw and HWB accounts. More details will be sent home in the near future.

If you would like any more information about anything please feel free to contact me via Seesaw.
