Welcome to Elm Class
Mrs Green and Mr Matthews are pleased to be your child’s teachers this year. Mrs Scott and Miss Valentine will be supporting us in class.
This term our topic is ‘The Green Green Grass of Home’ where we will learn many new and exciting things. We will be focusing ourselves, our home and our family. We will then look at our local area of Chirk. We will also be looking at the seasons Autumn and Winter and how this affects what we wear.
In Welsh our focus language patterns will include greetings and feelings.
In Literacy we will be reading a collection of books linked to our topic. We will practice recognising our name and identifying sounds in the world around us. The children will also be given lots of opportunities to explore writing through mark making.
In Maths learning will include reciting numbers forwards and backwards, counting, number recognition and pattern.
PE sessions are on Friday. Children will need to come to school wearing a white t-shirt, black/navy shorts or joggers, a jacket and trainers. Please ensure that all clothing has your child’s name on it.
Reading is a gift for life. Please encourage your child to develop a love of reading through sharing and talking about books, comics and magazines that interest them.
Our school is part of the Healthy Schools Initiative. Please support our school and ensure that your child has a healthy snack every day for break e.g. fruit or veg. Children are provided with a free carton of milk. Also please provide a named bottle of water.
Please ensure that all clothing has your child’s name on it.
We are very fortunate to have a large outside area attached to our classroom and we will complete lots of our learning activities outside. Please can you send a pair of Wellies and waterproof trousers (clearly labelled) to remain in school to be available for these learning opportunities.
Thank you to all parents who have connected through the SeeSaw app. Pictures will be regularly uploaded to show your child’s learning.
End of day arrangements
Please inform the class teacher or Mrs Pearce (School Secretary) if you have made alternative arrangements for the collection of your child at the end of the day.
Thank you for your continued support
