Dosbarth Beech

Welcome to Dosbarth Beech,

We are so happy to be starting the children’s learning journey in their final year, in Year 6.

Our main focus is always the children’s Health and Wellbeing, learning through encouragement, challenge and fun.  This terms topic is, Journeys, and the children will be learning all about Sir Ernest Shackleton and create our own journey of Endurance.  We will be led by the children and their interests through this topic.  We will look at our local area and compare and contrast with many other places around the world.  All our teaching will be based on the 4 purposes and the new curriculum.

We are very lucky to have Mrs CD in our classroom each morning to help us with our learning and at times work in smaller groups.

We will have P.E. each week on a Thursday. The children can come to school in their P.E. kit on a P.E. day. This kit is a plain white t-shirt, blue/black joggers or leggings or shorts and trainers.  Please ensure long hair is tied back, especially on these days, and no jewellery is worn.

Homework – The children will book blog daily and practise their times tables.  Hopefully this will encourage some independence at home and also incorporates our 5 Ways to Wellbeing.

5 Ways to Wellbeing – includes Be Active, Keep Learning, Connect, Give and Take Notice.

Reading is so essential in all their lifelong learning and we would like to encourage the children to read daily. Where possible, to an adult to help support their understanding and coherence.  Times Tables can be practised by using TT rockstars online, which each child has a password for, along side repetition and times tables songs.

We will post some of the children’s work, announcements and reminders on Seesaw.  Please contact us on this site or phone the school with any concerns.

We are looking forward to a great year creating wonderful memories.
