Welcome to Juniper Class!
Mrs McCunnell and Mrs Rowlands are pleased to be your child’s teachers this year. Mrs H-C will be supporting us in class.
This term our topic is ‘Light and Dark’ and we will learn many new and exciting things. We will be focusing on Space, the planets, sources of lights, shadows, nocturnal animals and special celebrations relating to Light. We will investigate how light travels and explore sources of light. We will be studying the artist Van Gough and creating our own interpretation of Starry Night.
In Welsh our focus language patterns will include greetings, feelings and the weather.
In Literacy we will be reading ‘The Colour Monster’ and ‘How to Catch a Star‘. Written work will include instructions, information text, poetry and imaginative story writing.
In Maths learning will include number recognition, place value, addition and subtraction, money and 2D and 3D shapes.
PE sessions are on Wednesdayday. Children will need to come to school wearing a white t-shirt, black/navy shorts or joggers, a jacket and trainers. Please ensure that all clothing has your child’s name on it.
Reading is a gift for life. Please encourage your child to develop a love of reading through sharing and talking about books, comics and magazines that interest them. A new book will come home every Thursday in a named wallet and to be returned on a Monday. Please listen to your child read as often as possible.
Our school is part of the Healthy Schools Initiative. Please support our school and ensure that your child has a healthy snack every day for morning break eg fruit or veg. Children are provided with a free carton of milk. Also please provide a named bottle of water.
Please ensure that all clothing has your child’s name on it.
End of day arrangements
Please inform the class teacher or Mrs Pearce (School Secretary) if you have made exceptional arrangements for the collection of your child at the end of the day.
We are looking forward to building positive relationships with yourself and your child so if you should have any questions please feel free to send a message via SEESAW or alternatively telephone the school.
Thank you for your continued support.
