 Welcome to Dosbarth Magnolia!

My name is Mrs Wiggan and I am pleased to be your child’s teacher this year. We are supported in our class by Mrs Bithell, Miss Evans and Mrs Cartwright

Our Topics

This term our topic is ‘Light’ and we will learn many new and exciting things ranging from the history of light to creating electrical circuits.

In Literacy we will be reading ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Catastrophe’ and ‘Whatever Next‘.  Written work will include; Instructions, information text, poetry and imaginative story writing.

In Maths learning will include; Number recognition, place value, odd and even numbers, symmetry and data handling.

Physical Development

PE sessions are on Thursday. Children will need a white t-shirt, black shorts and pumps. Please ensure that all clothing has your child’s name on it.

Homework Information for Parents

In Magnolia Class, we will send homework home every Friday. Please help your child to complete the task and encourage them to work independently. Return homework books by the following Wednesday.

Children are encouraged to log into RMeasimaths regularly, they do have access to this at school but the more time reinforcing mathematical concepts the better.

Reading is a gift for life. Please encourage your child to develop a love of reading through sharing and talking about books, comics and magazines that interest them. A new book will come home every week with sounds they have been practising in class, please listen to your child read as often as possible.

Our school is part of the Healthy Schools Initiative. Please support our school and ensure that your child has a healthy snack every day for morning break. Children are provided with a free carton of milk and have access to water throughout the school day.

End of day arrangements

Please inform the class teacher or Mrs Pearce (School Secretary) if you have made exceptional arrangements for the collection of your child at the end of the day.

We are looking forward to building positive relationships with yourself and your child so if you should have any questions please feel free to come and speak to us - Our door is always open.

Thank you for your continued support. Diolch!
