Dosbarth Silver Birch

Welcome to Silver Birch.
My name is Mrs Green and I am so excited to be your teacher this year.  We are going to do so many fun things and of course learn a lot.
This term our topic is the Romans , we will be looking at the life of a soldier, Roman food, and mosaics just to name some of the areas we will look at.  In literacy we will be looking at Myths, explanation texts and poetry.  Our science topics this term are Rocks and Soils and Magnetism.

As a school we are looking at mathematical reasoning, this is an area that a lot of children find challenging.  Please support your child with this be encouraging them to learn number bonds, times tables, telling the time and practice mental maths activities.

PE is on a Tuesday and Friday.

Homework Information for Parents
In Year 3/4, the children will be given 3 pieces of homework each week: Reading, Spellings, Literacy or Maths.

For Reading we expect the children to do a minimum of 10 minutes reading three times a week.
If you would like to carry out extra activities here are some options you may wish to choose:
- discussing key characters and settings
- making a list of unfamiliar words and their meanings
- discussing the book with your child and the events that occur

Spellings are given every Monday which must be learnt and practiced using sentences DAILY as we carry out a Spellcheck the following Monday.

Maths and Literacy homework will be set alternate weeks.  This will be given in their homework books. Children are encouraged to log into RMieasymaths regularly, they do have access to this at school but the more time reinforcing mathematical concepts the better.

Please ensure that your child is completing homework.

We appreciate all the hard work you do with your child at home.
